ALE, Anna-Lena Engelhardt, is an artistic freelance editor based in Berlin.
In her work she is editing fiction, documentary and experimental video art.
Montage is a powerful tool to break through familiar patterns of perception in order to open up new perspectives.
Montage can not only be an artistic and dramatizing, but can also turn into a strong political instrument.
In her editing she focusses on not to force a rhythm, a narration or an emotion, but to feel and filter it out of every single fragment of the film.
Her master thesis (Lyrik & Leere - Skizzen einer Montage) is about the connection between poetry and montage.
ALE thinks editing is poetry.
